Best thing about working for yourself?
The satisfaction I receive from helping women stop worrying about money so that they can finally focus on giving their gifts to the world.
Worst thing about working for yourself?
Expanding my business has been like getting a PHD in personal development. It brings every weakness to the surface and I can’t get away with anything! It’s not always easy having to work on my own growth all of the time.
Why did you start your business?
I always had the entrepreneurial “itch”. I knew I was here to serve a purpose outside of my corporate job. I feel blessed to have found something that I love doing so much.
When did you start to think of yourself as an entrepreneur?
I’ve known since I was 12 that I would start my own company. It’s just that the company changed over the years. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. Therefore, I think I always felt like one.
How do you relax?
I love going out to a long, fancy meal and having a deep and winding conversation. There’s nothing better than working out the world’s issues over a bottle of red wine and a chocolate desert.
What is something that you are known for?
I am known for teaching people how to lose their shame around money. I love making money, talking about money and spending money. My clients release their money stories and know how to build a lucrative business strategy after taking my programs.
What 5 things would you never like to be without?
Family, Friends, Love, Integrity, Money
What’s a business that you think is interesting or inspiring?
I read about inspiring businesses every day. I’m addicted to Fast Company. The stories that most inspire me are about business owners who have worked their way up in the world and innovated. For example, I just ate dinner at Lawry’s Steakhouse in LA. It is a family-run restaurant that has been around for 75 years. It started as a potato chip stand. It was the first restaurant to serve only one item- prime rib. Everyone said that the concept wouldn’t work – but it did. It also marketed it’s seasoning salt world-wide, a brilliant marketing strategy for name recognition and alternate revenue streams. I believe that entrepreneurship is about persistence and innovation. Lawry’s took a stand for a new concept and persisted in making it work. I am inspired by that kind of dedication and intelligence.
Who is a person that inspires you?
My father continually inspires me. He came to the US with $1000 in his name and worked evenings as a dishwasher to get his masters degree. He then went on to a build a company. He sold the company when I was in college. I learned so many fundamentals about business from watching him build his company and expand it to three states. In his retirement, he funded the building of an entire trade school in India so that other young people could have more opportunity. I too want to make my mark on the world through my business and my contributions. My father is the light that I look to for inspiration and example.
