Eden Abrahams of Clear Path Executive Coaching LLC is obsessed with The School of Life.
Business Name
Clear Path Executive Coaching LLC.
Business Description
I collaborate with leaders, including corporate and non-profit executives, creative consultants and entrepreneurs, to help them leverage their strengths and address behaviors or skill gaps that are preventing them from reaching their objectives.
Start Date
October 2008
Best thing about working for yourself?
The freedom to set my own schedule. With two young kids and a third on the way, having that flexibility is priceless! I also love being able to make decisions about how to build my practice that reflect my preferences, values and goals.
Worst thing about working for yourself?
Bookkeeping and all of the other (thankless) administrative tasks that go along with running a business.
When did you start to think of yourself as an entrepreneur?
I’d say that my identity as an entrepreneur is still evolving, but the process of writing the content for my website definitely helped make it feel less provisional and more concrete.
How do you relax?
I come from a long line of women who are not particularly good at relaxing, but I’m working on it! Reading, cooking, traveling, drinking good wine while hanging out with family and friends and spending a couple of weekends each month at our place upstate in the Hudson Valley all do the trick. And, oddly, baking – which I never particularly enjoyed, but my kids love – has turned out to be a really fun and relaxing activity that we can all do together.
What is something that you are known for?
One of my most famous traits (which clearly goes in the deficit column) is that I have zero sense of direction. I’m entirely useless with a map and have been known to get lost in places that should be completely familiar to me. I’m also really bad at remembering and telling jokes. In the plus column, I am a good and loyal friend and have been told that one of my strengths as a coach is my generosity.
What 5 things would you never like to be without?
My family, my friends, my sense of humor, my optimism and good music.
What’s a business that you think is interesting or inspiring?
I am obsessed with The School of Life in London – check it out!
Who is a person that inspires you?
I think the political activist and feminist Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an incredibly inspirational and courageous woman. I also find Diane von Furstenberg inspiring, both as a businesswoman who was able to learn from her mistakes to engineer an extraordinarily successful second act and as an individual with great personal style and flair.
