Best thing about working for yourself?
Being able to schedule time with my family.
Worst thing about working for yourself?
Having to solve problems that arise when I have scheduled time with my family.
Why did you start your business?
I started my business when I became pregnant with my now 14 year old because I wanted to take care of myself during my pregnancy – eat a meal before 3:00PM – stop traveling to 3 cities in a week,…and to answer to my daughter first, not my clients or a revenue growth chart.
When did you start to think of yourself as an entrepreneur?
My CFO of My Urban Sherpa who I’ve know for 16 years defined me as a serial entrepreneur – I hadn’t thought of myself as one – but I wear the hat.
How do you relax?
I relax when I am fully engaged in a conversation. I love the people I work with and the people I meet, and when I am engrossed in a conversation – I am totally relaxed.
What is something that you are known for?
I am known to identify the critical issue – identify and solve the core issue that addresses the myriad details that are out of alignment.
What 5 things would you never like to be without?
I never want to be without family, friends, health, sense of humor, presence of mind.
What’s a business that you think is interesting or inspiring?
I love the NGOs that are saving the planet and the people who live here – organizations like the Clinton Foundation / CGI, the Gates Foundation, and people including George Soros, Jane Goodall, Emily Pilloton, Richard Branson, Wayne Pacelle, Cory Booker…
Who is a person that inspires you?
I am inspired by the greatness in all of us – the passerby who saves a child from drowning, the man who rescues a fellow who falls into the tracks, the woman in Romania who rescues girls from prostitution rings,…there is a hero in each of us.
